Youth Excited about Sports

[About Us]

Youth Excited about Sports is a not-for profit organization that caters solely to youth. Y.E.S. is dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of life which includes sportsmanship, team work, cooperation, fair-play, and character building while having fun.

From the Heart.

Growing up, sports was an inevitable part of my life. My father played semi-professional football for the Raiders, my uncle was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams and played with the Chicago Fire in the WFL, and for three years, I played with the Kansas City Royals. During that time, and in college, I watched competitive sports both empower and destroy lives. I began to wonder why the old fashioned values instilled in me by my parents had simply gone by the wayside in society values that had served me well in my life, both on and off the field. It seemed that society as a whole had replaced discipline, respect, honesty, and teamwork with materialism, greed and a dog-eat-dog mentality in an all-out effort to get ahead of the other guy, no holds barred, at any cost.

My passion is to return the joy, love, and fun of activities to children while teaching fundamentals, principles of discipline, success, caring, and responsibility that will remain with each participant throughout adulthood. In this quest, the different activities and events has also become a vehicle for me to share the life-changing principles Ive discovered and learned throughout my personal relationship with my Savior, Jesus Christ. I have come to realize that whether there is but one person in the stands or 30,000 people watching, the stadium is always full when the game is played for Him.

Youth Excited About Sports (Y.E.S.) incorporates a wide variety of activities and events to teach valuable, life-changing, and priceless principles within a safe, encouraging, and empowering environment. In this day and age, youth are constantly bombarded with the pressures of teenage pregnancy, truancy from school, illegal drug and alcohol use, gang involvement, and criminal and violent behavior. Therefore, young adults desperately need the affirming influences, encouraging role models, and stimulating, challenging activities found through the Y.E.S. program so they can channel their energy in a more positive direction, as both individuals and team players.

I sincerely believe that the investment of time, attention, money, and other resources into the Y.E.S. program is priceless and will return tenfold to parents, teachers, the participants themselves, and to society as a whole. It is my hope that many others will also share my passions and visions and desire to help develop and expand the Y.E.S. program throughout Warrensburg and the surrounding areas. Only through our own modeling and efforts can we ensure the best opportunities and outcome for our childrens future success in all aspects of their lives.
